About the Sigma Chi Fraternity

“One, and the main, aim and object of Sigma Chi has been, and is, to develop and train broad-minded men who can recognize the wholeness of things and who are not bound down to a contracted, eight by ten notion of exclusiveness. There is an absolute necessity for such men.”

Founder Benjamin P. Runkle

our values, mission, and vision.

Sigma Chi’s core values are Friendship, Justice and Learning. Our vision is to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization — aligned, focused and living our core values. Our mission is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community.

The delta omicron chapter

Since its founding on January 22, 1949, the Delta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi is highly regarded due to its extensive campus involvement, service to the community, and positive social atmosphere. Sigma Chi has members sitting at various levels of student government, raises thousands of dollars annually for the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the BC Children's Hospital Foundation, organizes a multitude of community service projects, and hosts the most widely anticipated and attended social events at UBC.

Our chapter best serves its purpose of accomplishing the ideals of Friendship, Justice and Learning by developing, implementing and monitoring programs that foster leadership, build character and promote positive relationship skills that, in turn, enable its members to become productive and caring participants on campus, in their own communities, and beyond.
