Sigma Chi Delta Omicron Chapter Sweetheart
ALPHA DELTA PI SORORITY
Minor: Health and Society (HESO)
HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH SIGMA CHI?
When arriving at UBC in my first year, I was introduced to Sigma Chi through some of the older girls in my sorority, especially my big, who only spoke of the amazing qualities the members of this fraternity possess. From then on I became friends with the guys and even found my incredible boyfriend through this organization. I am so thankful that I was introduced to these amazing men so early on in my university life and I am so grateful for each and every relationship I have formed because of Sigma Chi.
FAVOURITE PART ABOUT SIGMA CHI?
I think my favourite part about Sigma Chi is the quality of character each and every one of the men in this fraternity withhold. The sigs go out of there way to make me, as well as, so many others feel welcomed, respected and cared for. Each and every member is so well-rounded and inspiring. I am certain that you will be sure to find a sig involved in nearly every part of campus life.
They’ve given me a community that makes a campus of 60 000 people feel small.
When I’m not studying or working, you will often find me in a dance studio teaching musical theatre to young children. As a former performer myself, I have now found a passion for passing on my love of theatre to others. I am also a member of Alpha Delta Pi and currently serve as the Membership Education Vice-President. Otherwise, in my spare time I enjoy shopping, going out for food, hanging with the guys, and explore our beautiful city.
ANY ADVICE FOR those INTERESTED IN RUSHING?
Honestly just be yourself, come in with an open mind, and get to know the guys as well as you can. The more events you come to, the easier it is for both you and the brothers to get a feel for whether or not it’s the right fit. I promise you, these guys are worth your time, and I genuinely hope that you all get the opportunity to see this organization in the same amazing light that I do!
Leadership and Academics
The Delta Omicron chapter prides itself on its dedication to academics, leadership, community service, and philanthropy. We believe that a group of ambitious and diverse young men can make a world of difference, be it on campus or across the world. Further, we believe that the academic experience is fundamental to a young man's time at university, and academic success and personal growth should be consistently encouraged and persistently developed.
Sigma Chi professes three principles continuously: Friendship, Justice, and Learning, and the Delta Omicron chapter at UBC holds these three principles close as we navigate our way through our university lives and beyond. Please see the rest of the pages in this section to see the sort of work the Delta Omicron chapter is consistently completing.
