What is a Sweetheart?
A Sweetheart is a young woman that represents our chapter and has a distinguished role within Sigma Chi. She is a great friend to our brothers and lives our core values of Friendship, Justice, and Learning as well as making her own contributions to our chapter. She is given our badge, wears our letters, is a member of our executive council, and is welcome at any local or international Sigma Chi event.
What is the Sweetheart Ball?
The Sigma Chi Sweetheart Ball is the most prestigious formal event in the Greek system. It celebrates the success of our chapter, with the main event being the crowning of our new Sweetheart. It is a prestigious event that draws out our entire chapter, including alumni, to share in our celebration. This year’s event will be held in the beautiful Pinnacle Ballroom of The Marriott Pinnacle Hotel.
Sweetheart Facts
- Our chapter sings the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi'' song to the Sweethearts during several occasions throughout the year. (sometimes randomly too!!)
- A Sweetheart is recognized by all other chapters and is treated with utmost respect at any other Sigma Chi chapter.
- She gets FREE admission into almost every Sigma Chi event during her active year.
- A Sweetheart is appointed a seat on our executive council.
- Sweethearts are recognized internationally and can apply to be the International Sweetheart for the entire fraternity.
- Our chapter has had Sweethearts since 1950 and at least one from every sorority on campus.
