Province Conference 2011

By Oliver Bozek on March 14, 2011

This year 23 proud Canadians attended Sigma Chi’s annual province at Willamette. Our group consisted of alumni, brothers, sweethearts and lovely sorority girls. We all had a fantastic time exploring Willamette’s campus as well as a very constructive day experiencing the conference itself. We took home two awards, Brother Mike Richmond won the Emerging Leader Award and our chapter won the Host Chapter Award for the second year in a row! The brothers of Delta Omicron wish to extend our thanks to Stephen Branch and the Delta Zeta Chapter (ΔΖ) as they did a fantastic job organizing the whole conference. We look forwards to seeing members of our province in the near future.

Sweetheart Ball

By Oliver Bozek on February 21, 2011

On Feb 5th the Delta Omicron chapter of Sigma Chi threw our annual Sweetheart Ball at the Marriott Pinnacle in Downtown Vancouver. This formal ball is our signature event in which we crown our new Sweetheart. A Sweetheart is a young woman that represents our chapter and has a distinguished role within Sigma Chi. This year we were lucky enough to have a total of 10 outstanding Sweetheart nominees and Laura Jackowich was crowned as our new Sweetheart.

Sigs Leading

By Oliver Bozek on February 20, 2011

Brothers Mike Silley and David Hyunh have been elected to VP Admin and CUS (Commerce Undergraduate Society) 2nd Year Representative respectively. With our fraternity being very leadership oriented it’s inspiring to see our brothers step up and lead. We know they will both do a fantastic job and take the definition of the position to a whole new level. They know that the entire chapter supports them and we wish them the best of luck!

Academy & Wet Rush

By Oliver Bozek on February 14, 2011

We kicked off our new school year in style by throwing two bar parties. The ironically named Wet Rush party was held downtown at Joe’s Apartment with tickets only being 5 dollars attendance was huge. Our other bar party is our second annual Sigma Chi Academy which we held on campus at The Pit Pub. This aptly named school party was a ton of fun especially because we had our own brother Alex Volney DJing. After this rapid series of events we’re glad to see a break on our horizon to get in a lot of studying. We hope to see you all out at our next event: Our annual Beerpong Tournament. Stay tuned for more details.

Gongshow

By Oliver Bozek on February 10, 2011

Once a year we throw Skit Comedy event at our house. This event is given it's name by the method of determining whether a skit continues or not. Our current Sweetheart, Elizabeth Shaw, sits next to a Gong, or in our case a cymbal. If she disapproves of a skit for one reason or another she can then gong them off stage. This year was a huge success with numerous hilarious skits and even an auction for charity.

Spag & Wine

By Oliver Bozek on February 2, 2011

In recognition of our fantastic relationship with our past year with our Sweetheart Sorority we hold a classy event. All of the Brothers of our chapter bring a bottle of wine and the Sorority brings the spaghetti. With nice wine, fantastic spaghetti and even a speech the night was a blast. The lovely sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta brought fantastic pasta and even a cake! We will always see Elizabeth Shaw as a sweetheart, as in Sigma Chi once a Sweetheart, always a Sweetheart. We look forwards to seeing the lovely ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta in the future!

Christmas Dinner

By Oliver Bozek on January 3, 2011

It's tradition for the brothers of Sigma Chi to honor the sorority that wins our signature philanthropy Derby Days by cooking them a winter holiday/end of semester dinner. This year we enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner cooked by the winter pledge class of 2010 for our Derby Days Champions, the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma. We socialized, played games and ate the delicious food.

Semi Formal

By Oliver Bozek on January 3, 2011

The brothers of Sigma Chi like to play classy sometimes too. This winter we had our annual Semi-Formal on December 11th. Although this was in the middle of finals, we found it a fantastic break from studying for exams. We started our night off at Sip Resto Lounge with apppetizers and lively conversations. Afterwards those of age ended the evening at Joes Apartment with livations and a great live show.
