"Men join fraternities... leaders of men join Sigma Chi"

A Star in the Making

By Damian McClarty on July 26, 2010

Aspiring actor, performer and now director, Delta Omicron’s own Jameson Parker recently wrote and directed a music video for the song “Call and Response” by Anami Vice. This is simply the latest of many impressive pieces of work from Jameson. Delta Omicron is proud to have this incredible sig as one of our own; we know he’ll go far. So let’s cheer for him, all of us hands to ceiling, Eh! Oh!

The Sigma Chi Academy - $4,200.00 Raised for Haiti Relief

By Justin Dirk on March 5, 2010

When there is trouble in the world, the men of Sigma Chi step up.  A social event originally meant for profit, was selflessly turned into a very successful philanthropic endeavor to aid the devastated Haiti people after an intense earthquake shattered their world.

On January 29th,  over 250 people showed up to the Pit Pub, decked out in school uniforms, varsity gear and everything in between, to show their support.  Dj'ed by our own Sam Kintu of Crook's and Gun's, it was the most bumpin' place that Friday night, with a hoppin d-floor, and plenty of good times to go around.  At the end of it, one could feel proud that they contributed to a good cause, while partying with the best men on campus. After their donation was doubled by the Canadian Government, the Delta Omicron Sigma Chis raised $4,200.00 for the Canadian Red Cross through ticket sales and donations from families. Thanks to all who came out and supported!

GongShow

By Leo Abramoff on March 1, 2010

On Friday, January 15th, the brothers of Sigma Chi hosted the epic GongShow event. The show featured hilarious skits by our brothers, and also the lovely sororities at UBC. There was a wide range of skits from song covers, remakes of SNL skits, and original material emphasizing the tremendous artistic talent in the Greek system. We had about a dozen skits this year, and the house was packed. The legendary “Year 2000,” Mark and Cam’s version of “Hey There Delila,” Damian, Jake, and Karl’s “Fratifornication,” and Mott Folley: Motivational Speaker” were only some of the hilarious skits! A big thank you goes to brother KWD for helping set up the equipment, brothers Andrew Vuu and Karol for MC’ing, everyone who performed, and also our spectators!

Spag N' Wine

By Leo Abramoff on March 1, 2010

Our annual event Spag N’ Wine took place on Saturday, January 9th and was a huge success! The brothers cleaned up really well and had the lovely ladies of ADPI, our Sweetheart Jessica Price’s sorority to join us for dinner. The girls cooked the great Spaghetti (a.k.a. Eliconi), prepared a salad, and even baked pies. The brothers brought the wine, cleaned up the house, set up the tables, and also placed candles to impress the ladies. The night started off well, but once the beer bong came out it became perfect, nothing like drinking wine out of it. We are extremely grateful to Jess and her sisters for cooking such a great dinner! Looking forward to next year!

Congratulations to the Fall Class of 2009!

By Graham Coombe on November 30, 2009

On behalf of Sigma Chi and our many supporters, we would like to give a huge congratulations to our new initiates of the Delta Omicron chapter! Throughout rush, pledgeship, and initiation, we strongly believed that our fall pledge class would further strengthen our chapter. As much as we are thankful for our new initiates, we could never have pulled off a successful semester without the tremendous hours of work by our brothers, especially the Rush chair, the Magister, and the Ritual chair. With great support, they were able to prepare and educate one of our largest pledge class we seen thus far!

First wave of pledges at bids day!

Second wave of pledges!

Strong alumni and active presence to support the rushees at formal rush (Chan Centre).

Grand finale! The official fall class of 2009 with their Magister, you guys finally made it!
