Term 2 Rec Sports
The Delta Omicron chapter has competed in many of the UBC Rec sports leagues in the past year. We would like to acknowledge all the teams that competed and battled hard in attempt to attain the title of Rec Champions during this term:
-The Sigma Chi Whalers hockey team played in the men’s elite hockey league and made it to the semi finals but lost to the eventual winners of the entire league.
-We had two co-rec volleyball teams this term. Sigma Chi’s team with Kappa Alpha Theta got to the quarter finals and our team with Delta Gamma made it to the finals, losing in the fifth and final set by only two points!
-Both the men’s futsal team and basketball team made it to the quarter finals.
-Finally, congratulations to Sigma Pi, the Sigma Chi and Alpha Delta Pi co-rec dodge ball team for winning the Men’s Tier 2 division this term.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support Sigma Chi sports and congratulations to all the athletes for their hard work and dedication this term!
Alpha Delta Pi's Diamond Ball 2012
On Sunday March 28th was Alpha Delta Pi’s annual Diamond Ball softball tournament. Sigma Chi had two teams participating. After hard fought games by both teams, team A finished in 4th place and only barely as they lost the final two games by 1 run. Thanks to Alpha Delta Pi for putting on another successful Diamond Ball this year, the brothers had an excellent time playing some ball on a windy but sunny day. A special thanks to our coaches: Devi, Laura and Jenny for their help and encouragement.
UBC Greek Week 2012
This past week (March 19-23) was a fun week of games and friendly competition between the UBC fraternities and sororities at the annual, UBC Greek Week. The week consisted of a canned food sculpture contest, a photo scavenger hunt, a Greek barbeque, capture the flag and a Mr. Greek competition. Sigma Chi would like to thank all the wonderful ladies of Delta Gamma UBC for being excellent Greek Week partners and making the week so enjoyable. It was a very close competition and we fought hard to the end to finish in a respectable 4th place overall! Also, a special shout out to Addae Nurse for his fantastic performance at Mr. Greek on Thursday night. Fun was had by all and we cannot wait until Greek Week 2013!
ΣΧ Presents: King of Cups Tourney 2012
Sigma Chi’s annual beer pong tournament proved to be as successful an event as ever with 64 teams registered; showcasing the best beer pong players the UBC community has to offer. Held yearly on St. Patties Day, fun was had by all who attended: competitors or not. With two Canucks tickets on the line, competition was fierce in this one round knockout. In the end Brothers Ethan Gold and Mike Richmond came out on top. Thanks to all who came out, played and supported our event. Hope to see everyone again next year!

Sigma Chi Formal Rush
This year, Sigma Chi’s formal rush event was held at The Sage Bistro right on the UBC campus. We would like to thanks our recruitment chair, Brother Andrew Vuu, for his great success on planning the event and the rest of recruitment. A special thank you to all the alumni who came out and especially Jon Watson and Parham Peiroo for delivering great speeches during the Night. And of course, to our lovely sweetheart, Laura Jackowich, for addressing a beautiful speech to the future of the Delta Omicron chapter. The event was a great success and we look forward to the future of Sigma Chi.
Sigma Chi Derby Days 2011
Sigma Chi's annual signature philanthropy Derby Days, held at the beginning of the school, was a great success. Events like the car wash, pic-a-sig, penny wars, apprentice and our Endless Summer Bar Party were heavily attended and thoroughly enjoyed. We raised thousands of dollars for the Vancouver Children's Hospital while having a fantastic time doing so. This year the winners of Derby Days, and the recipient of Sigma Chi's annual Christmas Dinner, are the lovely ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma! As winners of Derby Days, we donated a cheque of $910.00 to them! The brothers at Sigma Chi take philanthropy very seriously as we empathize with those who are less fortunate than we are and are willing to lens a helping hand.
